The hottest openings of the past 12 months, held in Charlotte – North Carolina.
Get to know the newish bars and restaurants that have been garnering some serious buzz.
Master Sommelier Laura Maniec has been helping Charlotte drink better wines. Along with a highly curated wine list, the restaurant/wine destination also offers a full food menu and pairing classes so that you, too, can pick out the best wine to go with your gruyère.
Another hotel hot spot, Evoke, which opened in early 2015, undermines stereotypes about both hotel restaurants and steakhouses. With playfully paired crudos, excellent dry-aged steaks, and mid-century modern aesthetics allowing diners to forget the low-light steakhouses of their pasts, Evoke has become its own destination beyond the Le Méridien hotel it’s housed in.
3. Kindred Restaurant
Joe and Katy Kindred’s eponymous eatery and bar makes its home in a remodelled pharmacy a worthwhile 25-minute trip north of Charlotte in Davidson. The menu changes regularly, but keep an eye out for Kindred’s signature milk bread and hyper-local ingredients.
4. The Punch Room
Opened last Valentine’s Day in Charlotte – North Carolina with head mixologist Bob Peters at the helm.
In a Lounge Design, he’s offering a cocktail menu harkening back to a time where the social drink was punch… so go with friends in tow.
5. Pizzeria Omaggio
Since opening a few months ago, this little pizzeria tucked into the Metropolitan shopping center outside of Uptown is serving traditional Italian pies using a third-generation tomato sauce recipe. The tall windows and clean decor make for a modern interior design take on the pizza place your cousin from New York always talked about.
