From February 27 to April 16, the iconic Le Bon Marché welcomes a very special guest: the legendary New Yorker Iris Apfel. The 94-year-old fashion star is the subject of “Iris in Paris”, an exhibition and pop-up shop at Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche department store that celebrates her famous style.

For Le Bon Marché, the artist has imagined a perfect day in the French capital, illustrated through an inventive series of set pieces. The show displays 10 Iris looks, recreating situations that meld typical Paris scenes with Iris Apfel’s singular personality. By each look, 10 short films recount in Iris’ words the genesis of each of the looks, which were created for the trunks from her own personal collection.

On the first night of the event, friends from near and far come to toast Apfel. She appeared to be very happy, on hand in layers of turquoise jewelry and a shaggy neon orange fur, and seated under the swarm to celebrate her exhibition with the Parisian mainstay.
“Iris in Paris” will run through April 16, alongside several shoppable pieces selected by Apfel — a red Mongolian wool bag she designed herself, a scarf with an Eric Giriat drawing of the Eiffel Tower, and Selima Optique sunglasses, among them.
Iris Apfel continues to surprise and delight with her creativity and striking eccentricity. The renowned interior designer is a fashion icon in her own right, known for her uniquely eclectic collection of clothes and jewelry. And judging by the enthusiasm on the first night, it’s safe to say that these Apfel curiosities won’t last for long.
