Located in the exclusive Parisian suburb of Saint-Cloud, a majestic home dating to the early 20th Century was renovated by Atelier Tristan Auer. This was the first design commission since Atelier Tristan Auer became part of the Dallas-based luxury design group, Wilson Associates. It is first and foremost a home for a busy family with small children and secondly, it is a setting to showcase the family’s substantial contemporary art collection in a chic, comfortable environment. Take a look inside this beautiful private residence.
Completed in October of 2016, this is a modern residence that combines a Belle Époque ambiance with a mid-century, minimalist aesthetic.
Furniture and furnishings were designed specifically for this client. These include the super-cool, five-meter-long blue velvet sofa and the living-room coffee table, both designed by architect, and furniture designer to Fendi and other prestigious clients, Thierry Lemaire. “Because they have young children, the design had to be practical and operational. This is a family residence and family time with the children is extremely precious for the owner” says Tristan Auer, Principal Designer for the project.
Some of the other furniture pieces are vintage finds the homeowner selected at the flea market, which pair nicely with salvaged and restored parquet floors. Fitted with the parquet floors in a chevron pattern, the interiors hark back to the past while the eclectic furniture selection and the homeowner’s funky art collection display a modern sensibility.
The residence exhibits the hallmark of Atelier Tristan Auer – a bespoke interior design experience detailed and specific to each client. “The interior design incorporates pieces of an art collection that is precious to the homeowner as well. One of the pieces of art is a real motorcycle that needed to find a place in the villa, and an astronaut helmet was to be exhibited in the office.”
In the bathrooms, the stone and bathtub were handmade by Real Marbre using stone hand-selected by the client.
Custom hand-painted illustrations by Leonard Butler in the children’s room, and Art et Breton, who also does finishes for Christian Dior, in the dressing area enhance the bespoke mood of the home.
