Renowned designer Luca Nichetto has joined forces with the team at Hem to launch the Alphabeta Pendant lamps. The new line is a result of Nichetto’s ambition to create an alphabet of different shades combined with Hem’s quality build and materials. Alphabeta shades come in eight different shapes, each with its own colour aside from the standard black and white. The pendants use a top and bottom shade around a single heart piece for bi-directional lighting — and with over 24 available shapes per lamp, Alphabeta boasts over 10 billion combinations when combined with four pendants.
The new fixtures are brought to life at the “Ten Designers in the West Wing” exhibition ongoing from September 21 to 27 in London’s Somerset house. Alongside the lighting is also a grand piano connected to 44 of the Alphabeta lamps. All of this coincides with the start of the London Design Festival 2015, where Hem will open its first physical retail space with a pop-up shop in Seven Dials.
Hem is the first global design brand to offer premium design products as well as customisable solutions directly to consumers in 35 countries. The Hem collection consists of both a diverse range of high quality in stock furniture, design accents, lighting, as well as fully customisable options for many products.
The shades come in eight different shapes of interchangeable top and bottom shades, available in a range of hues, as well as in black and in white.
This creates a total of 24 available shades, which allow for a vast number of possible combinations when displayed in groups – like letters in the alphabet.
