208 Duecento Otto is considered the Best New Restaurant 2010 by HK Magazine and Best Restaurant – Design 2010 by Elle Magazine; the venue is a buzzy neighbourhood restaurant and bar inspired by Italy’s culinary traditions with a New York meatpacking district vibe on Hong Kong’s art and antiquing Hollywood Road.
Rustic Italian cuisine & authentic Napoletana pizzas are some of the amazing thing you can find at this restaurant where art and design play a large part in the make-up of the restaurant’s surroundings, creating a fresh Bohemian energy.
A striking rustic iron facade welcomes visitors along with two nest chairs. The two-storied restaurant has a bar on the ground floor with a warm private dining room, which, with an interior staircase, leads up to the main dining area on the first floor.
The project was created by Autoban, which is an Istanbul based design studio, developing architectural and interior projects along with product design that engages issues of creativity and knowledge, realism and imagination, function and culture.
The dynamic menu of cocktails and wines of 208 Bar reflects the personality of this up-beat and modern Italian restaurant and bar. The list complements the rustic Italian cuisine – with 20 wines by the glass, and 70+ by-the-bottles. The selection tells a story of new versus old, matching a vibrant new take on old world products, against carefully selected “will-be-classics” from the new world – bold and refreshing ideas.
“The story told throughout the restaurant gives it a unique signature style – the ceramics on the wall provide it a personal identity, and the chosen primary raw materials offer warmth and a human touch to the design,” says Seyhan and Sefer from Autoban.
