The challenge here was to design a space that transmitted the modern Chinese lifestyle. Based on the architect, especially two primary elements: the undulating brick walls at the base and the floating white boxes above, Neri&Hu design the interior design. All the spaces are minimalist with a white palette that transmitted flow, airiness and softness.

This amazing residential building is located in the central business district of Beijing. Neri&Hu was in charge of the show flat and one of the first actions was to insert an art gallery within it. Wu Residence is a private residence located on a high rise in the heart of Singapore. The client requested three bedrooms and a project that would challenge the notion of what a flat is.
The solution, in this case, was to change the entire layout of the house by placing the rooms away from the building edge and placing a continuous corridor.
In this project, the central part of the house became the bedrooms and the common areas such as the living room and kitchen just complimented the private areas of the bedrooms. In this way, the interior design became more spacious and created a different kind of open space concept.

Neri&Hu had to design two model homes and they had to reflect a modern Chinese style. In the unit I the main space is the dining room and the high ceiling. The interior design is warm with modern furniture that gives elegance to space.
Unit II is a house where a Three-generation family lives and so each generation gets their own storage unit. The ground level living room is a place where the grandparents can place their collection of porcelains, the basement level is dedicated to the children and their painting and the third level master bedroom is a place for the parents. The other area spaces are decorated in a conservative style.

This mix makes this house modern and raw yet extremely avant-garde.

The building of Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s signature restaurant at Three on the Bund has a rich history and so it was important to not only create a new space but at the same time preserve some elements.
They took inspiration from the original 1916 Beaux-Arts building and turned the interior into a light, airy, and delicate space.

The key in all spaces was to connect the external space with the interior spaces and also include nature even in the interior design spaces. All the furniture is custom made and here they mix bronze and wood elements with a grey palette.

Beijing Whampoa Club is a restaurant that is located in a traditional Chinese courtyard house in the financial centre. The difficult task in the project was how to reconfigure the traditional Chinese courtyard space so that the guests could experience a fusion between modern dining with traditional Chinese cooking techniques.
To do this, they explored different opposite concepts such as new/old, light/dark, open/closed to demonstrate the modern/traditional culinary concept.

The Edition Hotel is located in Shanghai’s Nanjing East Road area, overlooking the historic Bund. Neri&Hu is responsible for the design of all the interior spaces, furniture and lighting for both public areas and guestrooms.
Since the two adjacent building has distinct architectural styles, art deco and post-modern, the challenge here was o find a balance between these two. The solution was to create a journey through Shanghai’s history, where each space had elements of the city’s past, present, and future.

Mercato is an Italian restaurant by the renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten located in Three on the Bund. The design was based on the chef’s vision but also on the historical context location when the three on the bunt was an industrial spot. The design focus on the structures and structural element.
