Crittall Stairwell Redesign
Following Michaelis Boyd’s work of renovating an inside stairwell, ACT developments took on the responsibility of doing “open heart surgery” on an existing stairwell while maintaining the beauty of the home. On two levels, the staircase and accompanying structure and walls were demolished, allowing the stairwell apertures to be restructured to enable glazed crittall partitions.
The rebuilt staircase would have to float without the surrounding load-bearing walls. A steel stringer stair design was chosen, and then Schotten Hansen flooring was installed.
The tone and feel of this wonderful period property were enhanced by new timber floors, redecorating, lighting, and cosmetic enhancements throughout. The crittall glazing now floods the two living spaces with light and is a feature you can’t help but enjoy.
Chelsea Terrace
The comprehensive reconfiguration and refurbishing of this charming family, located on a quiet and pretty street in Chelsea, was completed on a very tight timetable due to their customers’ expanding family.

The structure of the building was stripped back to bare brick to accommodate structural work that included further basement excavation, a crittall type extension, and rearranging all of the floors to provide a family and pet friendly home. The design brief was eclectic and playful, with bold use of pattern, materials, and texture, as well as sympathetic reintroductions of cornices, traditional skirtings, and architraves.
The use of neutral colours makes this look super modern, the marble combines in the best way with the furniture!
