Benoy, a firm created of design specialists committed to delivering world-class solutions for the built environment. The company specialises mainly in master planning, architecture and interiors, using what they call ‘creative commerciality’ to solve problems and unlock potential.
Benoy focus on design that is tailored to the needs of the people who live in, work in, and use the destinations they create. They share their client’s ambitions, frustrations and successes – helping them create a lasting legacy through the built environment.
Benoy introduced a ‘City park’ concept to the design of the six-storey mall which sits at the heart of the scheme uniting a high-end hotel, boutique shopping street, five residential towers and a Grade A office tower. The interiors reflect their surroundings, brought to life through a thematic approach with the use of natural materials, special wood details and decorative plants. With its prime location and unique design, Tianjin Luneng CC Plaza Shopping Mall has created a strong brand appeal, attracting over 30 new-to-market brands to the city alongside more than 200 stores; created a new destination to appeal to both the local community and visitors to this popular tourism hot spot.
Utilising a prime waterfront location, Benoy was invited to create a mixed-use retail, leisure and food and beverage multiplex that seamlessly integrates into the surroundings. The vision was to design a refreshingly modern space, and it required masterplanning, architecture and motion graphics. To blend in with the waterfront setting, they designed a low-rise development with a meandering pedestrian esplanade connecting to four plazas. The Beach is an iconic vista of Dubai’s waterfront, spanning 600m. It offers sustainable commercial opportunities with 68 new outdoor retail and restaurant units, a cinema and an entertainment zone.
Set on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, ICONSIAM transforms the Bangkok riverfront into a new global attraction for Thailand. This prestigious project includes a contemporary shopping mall, a luxury retail mall, a 3,500 seat auditorium and two waterfront residential condominium towers. As the interior designer on the retail components of the project, a key challenge was ensure footfall through all of the 8 levels of retail as well as F&B. It was essential to create a world class contemporary shopping destination that had a strong sense of ‘Thai essence’ in order to attract both local and international visitors. A narrative based on the symbolic lotus flower and the Chao Phraya River inspires the interior design. The river body inspired the soft fluid forms of the plan which wraps around two feature internal retail buildings, the cladding design is influenced by the flower. The scheme opened to the public at the end of 2018, and is set to become a new icon for the city, a symbol of national pride.
Located in the heart of Sydney, the David Jones Elizabeth Street flagship is one of Australia’s leading and most iconic department stores. Our challenge was to enhance this heritage building and offer a more contemporary, inspiring retail experience, whilst celebrating the store’s opulent past. Rejuvenating the interior and exterior, we blended the existing building fabric with a re-designed layout. This maximised the store’s twelve levels, while allowing smooth, circulatory movement throughout and enabling a more diverse retail offering. This iconic shopping destination has been given a new lease of life. The first of the twelve levels completed in 2018, the designer Shoe Destination on the seventh floor, with further floors due to follow. In a first for Australia, customers will be able to experience the worlds of Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Gucci outside their eponymous boutique stores.
The new Ali Centre covers three plots and includes retail, commercial offices and two central squares. The development covers over 140,000m2. The lower floors of each will house new online and offline retail businesses which will be accessible to the public, while the upper floors are given to international Grade-A office spaces. The overall concept looks at space maximisation, comfortable pedestrian flow and open-air spaces. Benoy brought together simple elegance with science and technology to inform the interior style across each of the buildings.
