THANK YOU FOR YOUR REQUEST
We will be in touch soon.
For those who do not know who Katherine Lo is, she is the daughter of the most billionaire real estate businessmen in Hong Kong – Lo Ka Shui, managing director of Great Eagle Holdings Limited, and Executive Chairman of Langham Hospitality Group.
When the talk of the Langham Chicago came up to the table in 2010, Katherine grabbed the opportunity to get involved in the hospitality and real estate world as well as to travel all the way to the United States. At the age of 28, she had already studied fine arts at the top US universities and was an assistant to film directors in her country of origin.
After deeming that the hotel lobby needed a refreshed design, she took it upon herself to work even on the smallest details to transmit meaning and comfort. It was her work at Langham Chicago that made her executive director and “culture & design” ambassador of the Langham in North America.
With an innovative and creative mind, Lo founded just this month the Eaton DC hotel – a sister location to the one in Hong Kong, that works as a refugee and as a “working club” for a group of “innovators, activists, progressive thinkers, and creatives”.
The hotel on 1201 K Street NW, has mid-century-inspired guest rooms, environmentally-friendly mattresses and towels, a slew of carefully curated books, and art by local creatives. It seems the perfect partner for BRABBU!
With a certain client group in mind, is seeking to provide “sustainable bohemian comfort” as if they were former art students and have already travelled the world, years later, and are only now returning home.
209 rooms in total, Katherine collaborated with Gachot Studios – based in New York – on the design of every room, where each will have very specific and local elements such as “black and white photos of DC families” from different cultures, record players and albums, as well as “a Himalayan salt lamp” to make the atmosphere calm and relaxing.
Besides all these rooms, the facilities will also hold a digital-radio station, a 50-person theatre, wellness programs, regular public events, and a co-working space slated to open this fall. The grand opening of this amazing hotel starts tomorrow – 27th of September – until the 30th of September.
If you are ever in Washington DC and feel like embracing your creative and artist side, visit Eaton DC Hotel. It will help you see yourself in a different light at the same time that you’ll be surrounding yourself with causes worth of your attention. Here is to art and progress.
