Fort Royal was founded in 2010 to bring exceptional artisans together within one brand, to support and help French heritage thrive. The French savoir-faire is part of the tradition, lifestyle and legacy that is coveted by the entire world. Leaving the Bastille area and moving to Boulevard Haussmann is the next logical step in the group’s journey.

Fort Royal is on a mission to preserve French craft and design heritage and that is why their new showroom in Paris is a real trove of refined French craft. From cabinetmaking to gunsmithery, the group brings together an exceptional band of artisans, and with the addition of its fifth and latest member – metalworkers Bétemps – it was time for a move from its home in the Bastille area to larger premises.

With the arrival of the fifth artisan Bétemps, Fort Royal needed a more spacious showroom to exhibit their extraordinary artisanal metalwork. The aim is to establish Fort Royal in this exclusive district, home of renowned architects and interior design firms, with whom the group already collaborates or plans to in the near future.

It was last week that Fort Royal unveiled its new showroom on Boulevard Haussmann in Paris’ 8th arrondissment. Spread over two storeys, the brand new gallery has been conceived in-house by the Fort Royal team. White walls, chevron parquet flooring in the gallery and a piece of solid marble in the hallway set the tone. The result is an immaculate space in which to showcase its wares.

Nearby, Craman Lagarde showcases a selection of its classical, art deco and contemporary pieces in a room dedicated entirely to its striking marquetry. The furniture will be refreshed on a regular basis to unveil a wide range of the artisan cabinetmaker’s collection.

Master glassmaker Atelier Simon Marg is also represented: a duet of backlit stained glass panels illuminate the hallway, while Steven Richard’s ‘Pompéi’ wrought steel screen takes pride of place in the main room. Downstairs, the basement is home to an armoury department exhibiting beautiful guns and rifles by Darne.
