When it comes to interior design, Italy certainly stands out as one of the most prolific countries in this field all over the globe. Just this month, we had another proof of this due to the magnificent brands that shined during the Milan Design Week.
Established in 2004 under the direct supervision of Giorgio Armani the Armani Casa aesthetic and philosophy focuses on simple lines and perfect proportions, enriched by precious materials, refined finishes, and elegant textiles. The result is a range of exquisite furnishings for the home or office that share the Armani/Casa collection signature design philosophy, providing elegance, essentiality and simplicity.
B&B Italia has been established with a strong industrial and technological calling that, besides breaking away from the set patterns of the sector, leads the company to face continuous challenges to merge creative ideas and design know-how. Creativity, vision and passion. A place where ideas turn into projects.
The company founder, Ettore Bugatti, who was born and grew up in Milan, succeeded by combining his artistic approach with his technical innovations. This helped him paving the way for the design language that characterises Bugatti as a world famous luxury brand. The brand was as per usual present at Salone del Mobile 2019 and where its newest collections were showcased.
Cassina was founded in 1927 and was responsible for launching industrial design in Italy during the 1950s. The company was pioneering in its field thanks to its research work and innovative approach that led them to work with renowned architects and designers who brought them new and fresh ideas. Cassina’s identity lies in the innovative fusion of technological skill and traditional craftsmanship.
In the history of the modern bed, the year 1978 was a milestone. It was the year that Flou was founded, a company with the precise objective of innovating the bedroom and create a new ‘sleep culture’.
During Salone del Mobile 2019, Missoni presented its newest home collection fulfilled everyone’s eyes with lots of colour. But that’s nothing that we are not used to with the luxury brand. Missoni is well-known for its innovative, colourful and unique design and this collection was no exception. In the home furnishings the same unmistakable style that created the Missoni story continues; the power of contrasts between iconic zigzags, polychrome lines, patchwork and coloured flames, alternating with real or hypnotic flowers and abstract geometries and never forgetting black and white.
Molteni&Co was present at Salone del Mobile this year with a concept that is inspired by the houses of the great architects of the mid 20th century. The straight pure wall and ceiling volumes divide and emphasize the different spaces. These shifting volumes never touch each other, creating horizontal and vertical visual filters. The result is a bright and open architecture, with large green islands inspired by Californian gardens.
Moroso has been been in the market since 1952 and always working in close collaboration with some of the world’s most talented designers. Nowadays the company is held by the second generation of the Moroso family- Roberto, the CEO, and Patrizia, the Art Director. The company has always been open to new ideas and proof of that is their sustainability section on the website.
Established in 1970 as the evolution of a small artisan’s shop dating back to 1942, Poliform invested in new production technologies and the products have successfully evolved into functional and modular systems. The minds behind this legacy are Alberto Spinelli, Aldo Spinelli and Giovanni Anzani, who still head the company today. They have until this day successfully blended specific technical expertise and know-how, with an entrepreneurial approach, which is in absolute harmony with the social and economic changes of the era.
