Get Inspired By Providence Hotel Interior Design in Paris

Closer to Canal Saint Martin and the upper Marais than to any of the typical tourist destinations — the new Providence Hotel in Paris is largely uncharted territory for hotels, and there’s no better feeling for a boutique hotelier than breaking new ground, has Pierre Moussié has discovered.

Dating back to 1854, the building was formerly an hôtel de passe (a short-time hotel) before its complete renovation overseen by Parisian architect Philippe Medioni. It offers the best accomodations, a sense of living the true Parisian lifestyle and stunning decoration. For these reasons, the Providence Hotel is the answer when you look for interior design inspiration. And if you still don’t know where to stay in Paris during your next trip to the city, here’s a place you should definitely consider.

The Hotel Providence encourages guests to take possession of their luxurious Parisian “pied-à-terre”. In fact, the decor personifies a typical Parisian atmosphere: a cosy fireplace, architectural details, wooden floors and marble mosaics.

18 rooms, including 2 junior suites and a large suite, were individually decorated with designer fabric and vintage furniture. They provide warm settings along with modern comfort, and the large suite offers a beautiful post-card view of Paris, its roofs and Montmartre.

Architect Philippe Medioni breathed new life into this once-derelict space, decorating the Providence in a style that’s pure urban Parisian romance, retro-influenced but devoid of kitsch — palm wallpaper by House of Hackney and Madeleine Castaing carpets, if you’re a connoisseur.

The Penthouse suite, with a private foyer, has a cool sitting area – beautiful Maya velvet armachairs and sofa from BRABBU’s collection, – a full appointed cocktail bar, even a desk record player with a selection of vinyl records. The spacious bathroom features a free standing clawfooted tub with spectacular views on Paris, Montmartre and the Sacré Cœur.

The hotel interior feature quality furniture, modern sofas, leather chairs and a bold wallpaper. In the dining area, several lighting points turn the ambience into a cosy, intimate place. There are also many artworks hanging in the walls, contrasting with the wall pattern.

The reception is joined together with the restaurant and bar in one single large space with the aspect of a homely parlour with flickering candles, a crackling fireplace and the faint scent of mint, leather and wood. The sitting area next to the fireplace invites guests to linger in the velvet sofas on cold days.

Velvet is the dominant feature of all rooms, ranging from yellow ochre and petrol blue, to fern green and kilim red. With a strong color scheme and bold patterns, the mini room incorporates the spirit of bohemian chic.

Modern eclecticism meets conspicuous glamour in the interiors of the Providence Hotel. Elodie Moussié, wife of Pierre, designed the interiors with her best friend, Sophie Richard, who updated the hotel with printed velvet fabrics, antique lighting, and portrait paintings sourced from French country flea markets. A place to visit, for sure!
