From the top of the best interior design magazines comes the Wallpaper magazine, an design inspiration and architecture magazine. This interior design magazine was born in 1996, and this year is celebrating two decades of history-making.
Now it’s time to see the selection of the most iconic of all the issues.
The 20th anniversary issue of Wallpaper is special: with 508 pages, it is the biggest issue ever. Throughout this issue they celebrate the people (and products and places) who have transformed our world – and their own – over the past two decades. Of course, it’s no normal cover. In this issue, there is one standout –Thomas Heatherwick. Wallpaper magazine asked him to do something outstanding with the anniversary cover. His design is a textbook example of the Heatherwick approach: a low-tech but joyous piece of paper engineering to create a simple but total transformation.
This year, the April’s edition had two covers. British artist Conrad Shawcross created this month’s limited-edition cover using optic interference tests for his work The Optic Cloak, soon set to loom 50m over the Greenwich Peninsula. Pictured left: the newsstand cover.
The September 2011 edition marks not only 150th issue, but also 15 years of Wallpaper. To help the celebrate, the magazine took a trip back over the prestigious past to collate the W*150: a list of the 150 people who have most influenced, inspired and improved the way they live, work and travel over the last 15 years.
In this Wallpaper issue, called “The Handmade Issue”, the magazine encouraged its readers to design their own bespoke cover using a nifty online design-it-yourself app. The cover design was then printed and bound onto a copy of the issue which was then sent to each reader.
This special edition celebrates the 10th anniversary of one of the most desirable and iconic magazines, with special and exclusive content.
The first edition of this top magazine is obviously one of the most iconic. From this, over 200 issues came, full of the best interior design, best architecture and fashion, giving each magazine the best home decor, decorating tips and decorating ideas.
