HBA Melbourne created a luxurious and elegant transitional space, staying true to the Melbourne aesthetic and yet creating global appeal through intricate design. The apartment is in an iconic Melbourne building on the famous tree-lined boulevard of St Kilda Road. Originally two apartments, the space has been recreated into a luxurious penthouse, providing 180 degree views over Melbourne and Port Phillip Bay beyond. The client owns an extensive art collection and this was the starting point for the design concept.

The flamboyant, star-studded heritage of London’s Grosvenor House has been imaginatively revived by The Gallery HBA to celebrate the hotel’s rich history, enhance its “sense of place” with the neighbouring Hyde Park, and transform the public areas into a destination in their own right. Gone is the previous conventional, dark décor, with the lobby’s traditional fireplace now exchanged for one encased in a floor-to-ceiling glass and thereby opening up the ground floor between Park Street and Hyde Park with light and freshness from the park vista beyond.
