Jeff Lincoln explaind that this was no ordinary project, this was an 1980 Heesen blue-and-white yacht he first spotted at the Palm Beach Boat Show, so he throwned out the rule book, and set to work creating a relaxing, energetic space for his clients.
In addition to its design, Heesen yatch is one of the fastest in the world, due to 2 Rolls-Royce engines. The designer and the clients decided to maintain the basic layout, giving space to some interior design inspiration. Lincoln added a new sun deck with a hot tub and sun pad and fully reworked the yatch interior design. To create a sense of seamless flow between the outdoor and indoor living areas, he kept to a nautical color scheme with a James Bond touch.
When it came to the contract furniture and decorating ideas, it was all about lush upholstery and materials, bringing together vibrant artwork by Andy Warhol with vintage Karl Springer tables and MIRRORS! When in doubt, the designer always went for mirrors, they’re a typical 1980s trope and a space-expander, perfect for yatch interior design decor.
The main concern through the yatch project was the weight of the furniture, “you want it to be comfortable, but you don’t want to weigh it down with a lot of heavy furniture”, says the designer. Bottom line, the goals were achieved, and the result is a 80’s James Bond style yatch, with a modern touch by the elegant view of Jeff Lincoln.
