Patricia Mauguy Flores from PFBDesign took over the renovation of a Haussmann style apartment in Paris and the result is a beautiful, sophisticated, modern interior design. To enhance the majesty of the high ceilings and the ornate moldings, the designer worked with a creative symbiosis between luxury furniture and an eclectic color scheme. In case you’re looking for decorating ideas, this mix will give you interior design inspiration.
The designer had one big challenge from the start: to manage the space of a large living room set and the contiguous dining room, entrance hall, and kitchen. She had in mind that this was a family home and she could not give up the functionality of the design.
In the living room, Patricia made the most of the herringbone parquet floors, marble fireplace, double doors and floor-length windows. She chose neutral colors for the sofas, rugs, and Baccarat style lighting fixtures, which were crucial to making the apartment feel even airier. On the other hand, pillows and other furniture pieces such as ottomans and armchairs bring a pop of audacious purple hues and ochre. One of these key items was the DUKONO armchair from Brabbu placed in a joint area, in the middle of the room.
The dining room – a chamber with plenty of natural light – has an unexpected color scheme, with a bold turquoise set of chairs and a purple rug. The two grand chairs at both tops of the dining table, NAMIB also from Brabbu, were custom made to perfectly match the room design.
Luxury and comfort describe the master bedroom, which is made out of lovely velvets. Intense black curtains, matching with the pillows on the bed and armchairs, make the room comfier. A large patterned headboard fills one of the walls, while an imposing golden mirror lays on the other, lodged on the floor.
The restrooms were designed for functionality. One of them, mainly used by the children, didn’t have natural light or ventilation, so the designer opted to apply two doors. Marble walls and white vanities boost the room space, while lively art makes it more appealing for the kids.
The leading value of Patricia’s labor was founded on her client’s outlooks and the conception of the desired ambiances for their life. Mingling innovation and convention, luxury and uniqueness, the designer successfully transformed this home decor and made this apartment a space unique for this family.
