Born in Colombia, Richard Mishaan began his career by apprenticing in the offices of Philip Johnson after receiving a BA from New York University and attending Columbia University School of Architecture.
The Mishaan touch, stylistically, is an expansive one, which is not surprising—he himself is an expansive person. His combined knowledge of fashion, architecture, and modern interior design, plus his cultural roots, give him a deep understanding of luxury and quality” Pamela Fiori, Editor-in-Chief, Town & Country.
Part of AD 100, the famous interior designer, has authored two books, Modern Luxury and Artfully Modern both published by Monacelli Press, a division of Random House. Artfully Modern was released in November of 2014.
“The best interiors are layered and rich… I adore creating synergy between collected pieces whose common thread is a tonality, a texture, or simply the excitement they evoke in the client who chose them..”, says Mishaan.
Richard Mishaan has built a reputation for being the ultimate mix master over his 20-plus-year career. He defines the homes he has decorated for himself, including retreats in Cartagena, Colombia (Architectural Digest, May 2012), and Long Island, New York, as well as an apartment in Manhattan.
Let’s start to take a look to Mishaan’s home in Colombia.
