With the first month of the year comes one of the world\u2019s most renowned fair \u2013 Maison et Objet<\/em><\/strong><\/a>! It\u2019s a 5-day event that begins on the 20th January\u00a0and results in thousands of visitors daily. With a design history dating back to 1995, Maison et Objet<\/strong><\/a> hosts the major players of the industry. In the tradeshow<\/strong><\/em>, there is going to be much to see: new collections being launched, creative brands and their products and brand new names in the design industry being acclaimed. The French designer, artist, and scenographer Pierre Charpin devotes himself to creating a poetic form of minimalism that is expressed in a secret garden of objects and furniture with an aura of grace.<\/p>\n

Pierre Charpin obtained his degree from the National School of Fine Arts in Bourges in 1984. In the early 1990s, he decided to concentrate on designing objects and furniture. He has since embarked upon a number of research projects with associations such as CIRVA (1998\/2001) and CRAFT (2003\/2005) as well as product design collaborations with internationally known design companies like Alessi, the Cristallerie Saint-Louis, Design Gallery Milano, Ligne Roset, the Manufacture Nationale de S\u00e8vres, Pamar, Post Design, Tectona, Venini and the Wrong Shop. His exclusive collaboration with the Galerie kreo started in 2005, and to this day he still creates limited edition pieces for the Galerie.<\/p>\n

Pierre Charpin designed for Galerie kreo \u201cMarbles and Clowns\u201d, a collection of vases and marble side tables and consoles. For his first solo exhibition in London, the designer played on the ambivalence of the clown, a figure which has been extensively investigated in theater, literature, art, and cinema.<\/p>\n

Charpin first designed the Slice chair in 1996, but it has only now been put into production by French brand Cinna \u2013 a division of furniture giant Ligne Roset. Charpin\u2019s 1980s-influenced design comprises a series of modular blocks in different colors, which can be added or taken away to alter the length of the horizontal surface.<\/p>\n

Every year, Paris presents us with the fantastic show Maison et Objet. With two editions, one in September and one in January, the decoration fair presents the latest news, innovative iconic design brands, and new designers. Consisting of 8 halls, the trade show is full of inspirations for decorating your house with the most beautiful design pieces from tableware to furniture, and even linen and lighting fixtures.
