The London Design Festival<\/strong><\/em> is an annual event, held to celebrate and promote London as the design capital of the world and as the gateway to the international creative community. The Festival is running from the 17-25 September 2016. At this year\u2019s edition, architect Asif Khan will install three plant-filled rooms across Shoreditch.<\/p>\n

\"Architect<\/p>\n

Khan\u2019s Forests installation for MINI Living is intended to create places for people to meet up on their way to and from work.\u00a0The MINI installation at London Design Festival features three themed rooms named Connect, Create and Relax \u2013 all located in busy areas in Shoreditch.\u00a0Each of the plant-filled spaces are underpinned by the Japanese idea of shinrin-yoku, which translates to forest bathing.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt means every sense switches to absorb the forest atmosphere \u2013 what you hear, what you smell, even the feeling underfoot,\u201d explained Khan.<\/p>\n

The Connect Space was conceived\u00a0as a meet-up space and will feature a large communal table in the centre of the room.\u00a0Inside the Create Space, which is intended to provide a place to focus on work, furniture can be rearranged as the visitors wish. The exhibition\u00a0is open to the public from 17 to 25 September 2016.<\/p>\n

\"Architect<\/p>\n

Asif was born in South London and studied architecture at The Bartlett School, University College London.\u00a0He recently made the shortlist for the Guggenheim Helsinki, and is one of the architects behind this year\u2019s Serpentine Summer Houses.<\/p>\n
