London Fashion Week<\/strong><\/em> ends today, but the best moments are already here. One of the\u00a0most important fashion design events in London\u00a0presented the new Spring \/ Summer 2017 collections of Burberry, Christopher Kane, Erdem and Topshop Unique.<\/p>\n

Erdem<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Canada-born designer Erdem Moralioglu always infuses his shows with a sense of drama and haunting beauty, and this time is no different. Models wore large floppy black hats that obscured their faces, gliding on a weathered boardwalk that appeared to weave in and out of water.<\/p>\n

The dreamy clothes reflected the brooding nautical theme, crafted in washed-out shades of blue and silvery grey, and all the frocks seemed to be covered in miles of rolling ruffles, lace, frills and velvet ribbons.<\/p>\n

Topshop Unique<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The runway aesthetic was inspired by the New Romantic style of the mid-80s, as well as the artwork of Linda Sterling. At London Fashion Week, Topshop presented darkly romantic party dresses, shocking pink heels and sharp tailored separates.<\/p>\n

Christopher Kane<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Despite the museum setting, there is nothing safe or conventional about Kane\u2019s approach. Some of the three-quarter-length coats were ripped for impact\u2019s sake, and some of the elegant dresses had cutaways and high-tech mesh panels.\u00a0Long black gloves were meant to be iconoclastic \u2014 not a nod to ballet days \u2014 and were decorated with colors and cutouts. At htis Fashion Week, Kane\u00a0entitled its collection as \u2018Make Do and Mend\u2019. The collection was inspired by wartime efficiency, with geometric print tops layered over floral motif skirts, printed coats, oversized knit cardigans and dresses held together by safety pins.<\/p>\n

Burberry<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\"London<\/p>\n

British label Burberry debuted both menswear and womenswear collections on the runway and made them immediately available to purchase through physical and online stores, eschewing the traditional six-month wait from runway to retail. The SS 2017 collection is\u00a0an opulent affair featuring frilly blouses, velvet blazers and silky pajama shirts \u2014 for both men and women.\u00a0\u00a0Creative director Christopher Bailey was inspired by Virginia Woolf\u2019s novel \u201cOrlando,\u201d whose hero is a poet who changes gender from man to woman.<\/p>\n
