But I think that [these new technologies] \u2026 are tools. There still takes a certain level of applied creative thinking that needs to happen to approach a design situation or design problem with a computer or with the fabrication,\u201d Anderson said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Anderson does not find these tools more useful \u2014 he finds them more technologically advanced. He still uses things like table saws and band saws on a regular basis.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/2-11.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5971\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5971\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/2-11.jpg\" alt=\"The Future of Interior Design\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/2-11.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/2-11-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/2-11-350x233.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But he believes that with these new tools comes the ability to realize designs that were considered too complex or costly in the past.\u00a0\u201cI definitely think there\u2019s added value in kind of reducing costs. Looking back to a very analog process of drafting design that takes a lengthy time and it also doesn\u2019t allow for many iterations or processes to be explored at one time,\u201d he said. \u201c[Whereas with] digital tools, technology allows for the iterative process to happen much quicker, which can lead to innovation and I think also changing the traditional or expected norms of what interior design is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/5-12.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5972\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5972\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/5-12.jpg\" alt=\"The Future of Interior Design\" width=\"640\" height=\"960\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/5-12.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/5-12-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/5-12-300x450.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/5-12-350x525.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There also becomes a shift in the number of faculty that are interested in how these technologies can change or alter the way that the field of interior design is investigated, he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI think it\u2019s incredibly important that faculty members adapt and look at the opportunities that exist with these new forms of technology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Anderson said that he is constantly looking at how digital technologies influence the creative process, both in the design and in the making of any project.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/4.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5973\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5973\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/4.png\" alt=\"The Future of Interior Design\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/4.png 640w, https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/4-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/4-350x263.png 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A lot of his classes are based around advanced uses of technology.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI\u2019m going to be kind of restructuring the communication sequence within the interior design curriculum,\u201d he said. \u201cWith that being said, I\u2019m going to be looking at using advanced programs like Rhinoceros, which is [a] 3D modeling software, and integrating 3D printing, laser cutters, [and] fancy routers into the curriculum.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Anderson believes that these new tools give students a greater sense of control over their design and they also provide a certain level of complexity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cStudents want this technology \u2014 they\u2019re really thirsty for it. I think they see the opportunity and want to capitalize on it. They\u2019re looking for the next thing.
