Bringing nature into the city is a response to the growth of big centered cities, and that\u2019s exaclty the point here. Well, seeking to establish Bordeaux as a leading European city, there\u2019s a project promoting a high speed train connection with Paris. This program is called Euratlantique and is centered around Bordeaux\u2019s Saint-Jean railway station, but it isn\u2019t just any plan; it\u2019s a 800,000-square-meter plan.<\/p>\n

Teamed up with French practice Laisn\u00e9 Roussel, Sou Fujimoto<\/strong><\/em> proposes Canopia: a series of timber towers that climb to a total height of 50 meters, a magnificent scheme that includes residential units, offices, and retail outlets. The project comprises four towers each densely populated with trees and other vegetation.<\/p>\n

Commercial space is housed at lower levels, and apartments are stacked above. The terraces are connected with the remainder of the scheme horizontally, as well as vertically, allowing users to navigate between gardens and towers.<\/p>\n

Apartments offer inhabitants at least one private balcony \u2013 many include more \u2013 or even an external terrace that wraps around the entirety of the residence. At ground level, a park sits at the center of the scheme, encouraging pedestrian movement across the site. This configuration is also an attempt to ensure that the development exists comfortably within its context, attracting passersby from the adjacent tram stop.<\/p>\n

Private balconies become larger as the building ascends, providing more room for greenery and plantation. This culminates in four rooftop gardens, each with their own distinct atmosphere.<\/p>\n
