The hotel room design<\/a><\/strong> is cozy hideaway with British touches; spaces that you\u2019ll find hard to leave.<\/p>\n

The elements of the Grand Pigalle Hotel\u2019s interior are from all over France. Boasting large bathtubs and warm reflections of brass and mahogany, the romantic spirit of Pigalle can be read in the smallest details. It\u2019s amazing how Doroth\u00e9e Meilichzon sprinkles personality within the stylish, modern ambience, like the metallic wallpaper and gold pineapple bedroom door knockers to the blue leopard-print carpet. So, meet Doroth\u00e9e Meilichzon: the woman behind the Grand Pigalle\u2019s style.<\/p>\n

What makes a successful hotel design?<\/strong>
\nI think it\u2019s like anything, you must invest time and love without forgetting the end client, who will eventually sleep, wash and eat there. It\u2019s important to always think about how they will spending their time in the space, rather than just decorating for the sake of decorating.<\/p>\n

What was your feeling when you went to the Grand Pigalle Hotel for the first time? How did it inspire you?<\/strong>
\nI wondered how I was going to adapt into a hotel context, the DNA of my work over six years with Expe group. I tried to think like their clientele to work out what they would come for: soft lighting, Anglo Saxon details, comfort, a place for a party and above all, sincerity. The sky is your limit, and getting the most out of your budget.<\/p>\n

Define the hotel in three words?
\n<\/strong>I believe that the expression \u201cMerry Chaos\u201d has never been more true!<\/p>\n

What is the \u2018Dorothee Meilichzon\u2019 touch in the hotel?<\/strong>
\nI love my pineapple bedroom door knockers, it\u2019s an hospitable symbol and welcomes you in.<\/p>\n

What are the colors used in the hotel\u2019s interior?
\n<\/strong>Golden, blue green, black and then white, my classic.<\/p>\n

And the materials?<\/strong>
\nThe cork is a nod to the wine company, brass, wood, lots of fabrics actually, wool, velvet, cotton and linen.
\nIf you had to spend a year at the hotel, which room would it be in?
\n601 for its huge bathroom that overlooks Paris\u2019 rooftops.<\/p>\n

How did you become an interior designer?<\/strong>
\nI am actually an industrial designer, after working six years in an agency, in 2009 I decided to open my own. When Experimental Cocktail Club bought Prescription on rue Mazarine and asked me to come onboard, it was an interior design project I was more than happy to embark on.<\/p>\n

What is yout next project?<\/strong>
\nThe next one is a Bar in Shoreditch, London opening at the end of March. Another happy mess! Then two Parisian hotels H\u00f4tel Bachaumont and H\u00f4tel Panache.<\/p>\n
