Matteo was born in Uruguay and moved to Italy where he graduated in Industrial design at IUAV Facolta\u2019 di Design e Arti in Venice.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.londondesignagenda.com\/ebook-london-design-agenda\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2147\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/banner.jpg\" alt=\"banner\" width=\"705\" height=\"122\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/banner.jpg 705w, https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/banner-300x52.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/banner-350x61.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 705px) 100vw, 705px\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>They are both fascinated by the discovery of one-point perspective during the Renaissance period, so they\u00a0created a landscape of overlapping semi-transparent shapes playing\u00a0with the viewers sense of perspective. \u201cMise-en-abyme\u201d\u00a0is a French term that literally translates as \u201cplaced into abyss\u201d, and refers to the experience of walking through the installation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Mise-en-abymea-colorful-and-immersive-about-the-Renaissance-period3.jpg\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2718\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Mise-en-abymea-colorful-and-immersive-about-the-Renaissance-period3.jpg\" alt=\"London Design Festival\" width=\"655\" height=\"468\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Mise-en-abymea-colorful-and-immersive-about-the-Renaissance-period3.jpg 655w, https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Mise-en-abymea-colorful-and-immersive-about-the-Renaissance-period3-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Mise-en-abymea-colorful-and-immersive-about-the-Renaissance-period3-350x250.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 655px) 100vw, 655px\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Creating an illusion of exaggerated depth that draws the viewer into the work, the grout lines of the tiles lining the bridge represent the perspective grid lines found on Renaissance drawings, . Each tile features a custom pattern of gradating colour that makes the landscape across the bridge appear to open outward or to close inward, depending on the visitor\u2019s point of view.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/brabbu.com\/blog\/2015\/09\/an-exhibition-of-mid-century-modern-furniture-and-contemporary-lighting-at-decorex-2015\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2720\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Mise-en-abyme-a-colorful-and-immersive-about-the-Renaissance-period1.jpg\" alt=\"Mise-en-abyme a colorful and immersive about the Renaissance period1\" width=\"655\" height=\"468\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Mise-en-abyme-a-colorful-and-immersive-about-the-Renaissance-period1.jpg 655w, https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Mise-en-abyme-a-colorful-and-immersive-about-the-Renaissance-period1-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Mise-en-abyme-a-colorful-and-immersive-about-the-Renaissance-period1-350x250.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 655px) 100vw, 655px\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Contrasting with the pale interiors of the surrounding galleries and the creamy marble sculptures within them, the designers have created a\u00a0coloured acrylic panels layered across the length of the bridge. These \u00a0semi-transparent panels also reference the V&amp;A\u2019s colourful glass and stained glass collections displayed in nearby galleries.
