With a little help from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.designweek.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\">Design Week<\/a>, we discover how the new google logo was designed.<\/p>\n<p>The new identity has been created by Google\u2019s in-house design team. Designers from across the company, including Creative Lab and the Material Design team, were brought together in New York earlier this year for a week-long \u201cdesign sprint\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/new-google-logo-2015-2.jpg\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1988\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/new-google-logo-2015-2.jpg\" alt=\"new google logo 2015 (2)\" width=\"980\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/new-google-logo-2015-2.jpg 980w, https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/new-google-logo-2015-2-300x138.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/new-google-logo-2015-2-768x353.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/new-google-logo-2015-2-350x161.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The design team says it wanted to look at four challenges:<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 \u201cA scalable mark that could convey the feeling of the full logotype in constrained spaces.\u201d<br>\n\u2013 \u201cThe incorporation of dynamic, intelligent motion that responded to users at all stages of an interaction.\u201d<br>\n\u2013 \u201cA systematic approach to branding in our products to provide consistency in people\u2019s daily encounters with Google.\u201d<br>\n\u2013 \u201cA refinement of what makes us Googley, combining the best of the brand our users know and love with thoughtful consideration for how their needs are changing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Distilling the brand to its core and building it back up<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The team says: \u201cWe started by distilling the essence of our brand down to its core \u2014 four colours on a clean white background\u2014and built it back up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new san serif identity uses a custom typeface retains the original Google colour sequence.<\/p>\n<p>The design team says of the new logo: \u201cThe Google logo has always had a simple, friendly, and approachable style. We wanted to retain these qualities by combining the mathematical purity of geometric forms with the childlike simplicity of schoolbook letter printing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/olFEpeMwgHk\" width=\"655\" height=\"370\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Playful and unconventional<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The team says the new google logo \u201cmaintains the multi-colored playfulness and rotated \u2018e\u2019 of our previous mark\u2014a reminder that we\u2019ll always be a bit unconventional\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Google says its new logo \u201cwill reflect this reality and show you when the Google magic is working for you, even on the tiniest screens\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the rebrand, Google is ditching its blue \u201cg\u201d icon and replacing it with a four-colour \u201cG\u201d to match its logo. It is also bringing in new elements such as a \u201ccolourful\u201d Google microphone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>A new Google \u201cG\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The design team says: \u201cThe Google G is directly derived from the logotype \u2018G,\u2019 but uses increased visual weight to stand up at small sizes and contexts where it needs to share space with other elements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDesigned on the same grid as our product iconography, the circular shape was optically refined to prevent a visual \u201coverbite\u201d at the point where the circular form meets the crossbar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe colour proportions convey the full spectrum of the logotype and are sequenced to aid eye movement around the letterform.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A new \u201cGoogle Dots in Motion\u201d graphic has also bee introduced. The design team says: \u201cThe Google dots are a dynamic and perpetually moving state of the logo. They represent Google\u2019s intelligence at work and indicate when Google is working for you.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe consider these unique, magic moments. A full range of expressions were developed including listening, thinking, replying, incomprehension, and confirmation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As part of the rebrand, the Google colours have also been updated \u201cto maintain saturation and pop\u201d, and a new Product Sans typeface has been introduced.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/new-google-logo-2015-1.jpg\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1987\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/new-google-logo-2015-1.jpg\" alt=\"new google logo 2015 (1)\" width=\"655\" height=\"278\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/new-google-logo-2015-1.jpg 655w, https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/new-google-logo-2015-1-300x127.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.brabbu.com\/en\/news-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/new-google-logo-2015-1-350x149.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 655px) 100vw, 655px\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The new look follows the introduction of the new Alphabet corporate identity, which is used to operate a collection of businesses, including the search engine.<\/p>\n<p>The Google brand will continue to exist, but at a holding level the new Alphabet identity will be used, with Alphabet Inc replacing Google Inc as a publicly traded identity.<\/p>\n<p>Google says of its new identity: \u201cSo why are we doing this now?
