The talented duo from Denmark, GamFratesi<\/a> recently designed a new furniture line for\u00a0Gebr\u00fcder Thonet.<\/p>\n

The new furniture line is composed of a two-seater sofa<\/a>, armchair<\/a>, office chair, desk, and a pair of high- and low-backed dining chairs<\/a>. The new designs will bring a fress look to any mid century, contemporary or minimalist living space, or as well to a home office.<\/p>\n

The upholstered\u00a0Targa\u00a0sofa and armchair rest on a steam-bent wooden frame \u2013 a characteristic of Gebr\u00fcder Thonet<\/a>\u2018s furniture \u2013 with a backrest that incorporates a rattan\u00a0section with rounded edges.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Vienna cane is a typical Thonet element,\u201d GamFratesi told Dezeen<\/a>. \u201cIn the case of the sofa the cane plays a small decorative detail, serving as a small screen and creating an interesting connection between wood and upholstery.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Gebr\u00fcder<\/a><\/p>\n

The cane\u00a0panelling\u00a0is repeated in the Allegory desk, which includes a large circular screen that echoes the backrest of a chair. The weave of the cane serves a double purpose, offering support to the furniture as well as a place to store and display\u00a0postcards or other papers.<\/p>\n

An accompanying three-legged office chair has a rattan seat and a singular curved strip of wood that forms a backrest.<\/p>\n

The Morris chairs \u2013 a\u00a0pair of upholstered seats with cane-patterned backs \u2013 come in a choice of two different backrest heights, and are a new interpretation of Gebr\u00fcder Thonet\u2019s signature Thonet chair.<\/p>\n
