Though new to the city, the Edition New York is most definitely a landmark hotel. Opened in May and just by Madison Square Park in the Flatiron District, it stands within the 41-storey Metropolitan Life Insurance Company building, a soaring, slender tower that was the world\u2019s tallest building from 1909 to 1913. It is, of course, now dwarfed by the Manhattan skyscrapers that radiate around it but, modelled on St Mark\u2019s Campanile in Venice, it has an elegance that more modern additions to the city lack. A suitable setting, then, for a hotel that wants to make an impact.<\/p>\n
