Twice a year, the city of lights holds for ten days amateurs and professionals of decoration and art from all over the world for the greatest design event. From the 6th to the 15th of September one can celebrate design by taking part in the best European Trade Show, Maison & Objet and by cruising the Parisian streets where traditions, skills, and products started to grow its reputation many years ago – to this unique experience we call Paris Design Week.

This September’s edition of PDW 2018 visitors and businessmen will be able to get even closer to those who make and shape design as we know it. To transform Today’s design into Tomorrow’s, we must look back and relearn the basics. Taking place at Ground Control, LE OFF – the Springboard Exhibition – is going to have a showcase of unique prototypes and collections of 40 of the best designers along with many Conferences presented by Chantal Hamaide, Founder of internationally acclaimed French design magazine, Intramuros.

• Apply An Innovative Methodology

Thursday, 6th of September: 6 PM – 7 PM

New management methods that offer tools and services to better co-exist within the city are being set up. From digital apps to urban furniture, a look at initiatives that optimise urban flow and behaviour.

Friday, September 7th: 6 PM – 7 PM

In terms of city politics, designers, as sensors of innovation, respond to new problems of city services and urban mobility. A way to create links and invite users to appropriate public spaces.

• Creating an Urban Therapy 

Saturday, September 8th: 6 PM – 7 PM

Pioneering designers and architects explore and experiment with long-lasting or ephemeral projects that integrate a social dimension. Concepts that examine and take into account the need for sharing and the dynamic of collectives.

• Reflections on Art and Behaviour

Sunday, September 9th: 6 PM – 7 PM

In freeing ourselves up from codes, the architect and designer question our relationship to constructed spaces and objects in the city. A destabilizing contradiction that calls for an artistic approach.

• Launch of the Design Zéro Dechet (Zero Waste Design) 2019 Contest

Wednesday, September 12th: 5:30 PM

Launch of the 7th edition of the contest organized by Syctom and sponsored by Matali Crasset. Announcement of the 2019 theme with its specific challenges and methods for participating in the contest. Opening of the exhibition that features the 2018 edition’s project finalists plus a selection of “social design” projects.

Friday, September 7th: 4:30 PM

A discussion between matali crasset and Melianthe Leeman about a major innovation in the glass industry.
