Clean and sober lines\u00a0are combined with finishes full of personality. Patterned stones, distinctive metals, and a warm material palette create the sophistication of a business lifestyle while maintaining a sense of welcome for a cosmopolitan couple. With function dictating space conception, timeless sophistication has been achieved through a rather essentialist approach to volume, movement, and materiality. For this project by Shift Interiors<\/em>, the design was greatly inspired by the natural surroundings of Grouse Mountain and the owners dynamic way of living. A balanced combination between Scandinavian aesthetics and the West Coast family\u2018s\u00a0lifestyle\u00a0requirements dictated the space planning as well as the selection of the interior finishes. This resulted in vast and open spaces dressed with a selection of natural, calm and inviting materials. In addition, a series of windows and skylights were modified and added to the house to flood the interiors with natural light and maximize views of the natural landscape around it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ultra-modern West Vancouver home built by FNDA Architecture has views of the ocean throughout the entire space. It showcases its strong modern approach with elements of geometric shapes and wood panelling, with Shift Interiors<\/em> bringing in an alternative feel of modernism. It was made clear that the use of the space would focus on being family-oriented. Shift Interiors<\/em> introduced warmer elements in upholstery and d\u00e9cor to balance structural components. The original art was very important to Shift Interiors<\/em> clients and was the key element in introducing colour into the home. The clients had a variety of original pieces that brought aspects of colour and authenticity into the home. Throughout the space, Shift Interiors<\/em> brought in several organic textiles, such as linen and faux furs. Home to an energetic\u00a0golden retriever and his two owners, this reno sits in the heart of Kitsilano\u00a0and\u00a0is the hub for a retired lifestyle. Spreading over\u00a0the four narrow floors of\u00a0the\u00a0existing townhouse, an open plan was developed to optimize space and flow as well as maximize access to the view and natural daylight. This, in combination with the choice of warm,\u00a0resilient materials, finishes, and furniture creates a great venue for entertaining as well as quiet, relaxing moments. Finally, pulling casual traditional aesthetics into a contemporary space allowed the project to reflect, at all times, an atmosphere of family, caring and joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This vibrant penthouse found in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood is pretty much all new everything for the newly married couple, except for a favourite armchair and art. Their view of Vancouver is also a key piece of their art, with many windows serving as the frame. To help keep the focus on the view, Shift Interiors<\/em> kept the interior simple and clean. Shift provided minimal construction alterations for a more functional and modern design flow. White-on-white with light oak elements and a splash for dark grey\/black to add contrast and ground space. Shift Interiors<\/em> finalized with adding contrasting colours and elements for a timeless, yet slightly masculine feel. With an overall minimalist approach, they had both space to entertain and for storage. This small, boutique penthouse is right in the popular Kitsilano neighbourhood within walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and shopping on 4th Ave. A Scandinavian vibe was a natural fit for the setting and clients. Clean, modern, lots of plants and wood, different tones of warm greys, warm metals and white with hints of light sofa colours to warm it up. Less was definitely more for this renovation, with the warm, natural elements welcoming guests of the soon-to-retire clients who love to entertain. To maximize the value of their smaller space, the office is a flex room to store bikes with a sofa bed to make it a guest room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
