Today, I\u2019m going to talk about some architectural achievements<\/strong><\/em>, projects that are making the news\u00a0in the world of design<\/em><\/a>. They are bold, sophisticated and some of them just outrageous. I wish I could say that all projects I will mention here are going to\u00a0be finished this year, but some of them are still in a embryonic stage.<\/p>\n

We begin this showcase of projects with, as I like to call it, a future achievement. The Pingtan Art Museum, by MAD<\/strong>, is a fantastic project, set in a reservoir, it\u2019s like an island with three galleries shaped like dunes, with a bridge to the mainland. I think MAD it\u2019s the perfect name for this company. What do you think?<\/p>\n

\"Design<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Design<\/a><\/p>\n

Mexican architect Fernando Romero<\/em>\u00a0has a great project completing this year \u2013 The Latin American Art Museum<\/strong> at Miami Beach, which will contain\u00a0the most ambitious collections of Latin American art in the world.\u00a0The building, with four stores high, is envisioned as a cascade of overlapping terraces, offering pleasant and interesting\u00a0galleries and a series of \u201csculptural gardens\u201d with the purpose\u00a0to encourage who passes by to venture inside.<\/p>\n

\"Design<\/a><\/p>\n

One of the great projects\u00a0of 2016 in Beijing includes the Guardian Art Center<\/strong>, a new headquarters for China\u2019s oldest art auction house, designed by\u00a0Ole Scheeren\u2019s architecture firm. It\u00a0will include\u00a0exhibition galleries, event spaces and a 120-room hotel.<\/p>\n

\"Design<\/a><\/p>\n

VIA West 57th<\/strong>, USA,\u00a0is a project finished this year, a triangle-shaped residential tower by Danish architect\u00a0Bjarke Ingels<\/em> and his firm BIG.\u00a0<\/em>A\u00a0600-apartment block, located in New York, designed so that everyone can cycle to their front door.\u00a0There is courtyard at the centre and the roof terraces will puncture it\u2019s sloping roof.<\/p>\n

\"Design<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Design<\/a><\/p>\n

British architect David Adjaye, in collaboration with US Studios Freelon Group and Davis Brody Bond, will finish\u00a0one of\u00a0most important buildings of his career, the\u00a0National Museum of African American History and Culture<\/strong>,\u00a0in Washington DC.<\/p>\n
