First, let\u2019s\u00a0talk about this restaurant\u2019s interesting name. Heston wanted something that represented the\u00a0menu and was\u00a0inspired by historic British gastronomy. In the past, dinner,\u00a0the main meal,\u00a0was eaten at midday before it got too dark. Once candles became affordable and then gaslight, the time of dinner moved to later in the day.\u00a0Today, depending where you are, dinner might be served at lunchtime, suppertime or\u00a0dinnertime.\u00a0So\u00a0\u2018Dinner\u2019 became the natural choice for its typically British quirky history and linguistic playfulness.<\/p>\n

Decorated by\u00a0Bates Smart, it blends ancient with modern and classic with contemporary. The restaurant is decorated with dark wood, brown velvet, vibrant green and orange velvet dining chairs. The lighting was also carefully picked in order to\u00a0properly set the mood of the dining experience, allowing details such as food presentation, table tops, bar and kitchen to emerge from the darkness.<\/p>\n

A custom illustration surrounding the chef\u2019s table \u2013 which allows a view to the kitchen -, was designed by English artist Dave McKean, completing the atmosphere of Dinner.<\/p>\n

Located in the third floor of Crown Towers, the restaurant overlooks the iconic Melbourne skyline across the Yarra.<\/p>\n
