Bob Chen Design Office was established in Hangzhou, 2004. With more than 10 years of industry experience in fashion design publicity and brand investment operations, it provides a precise interpretation for brands establishment and publicity. 

Its team, led by the domestically well-known designer Bob Chen, is engaged in interdisciplinary design and research. Conceived with the goal that a modern home should also be a reflection of retreat, a space for introspection and also a place for return, Mansion Liu harmonises these two different requirements.

To consider the fluency and accessibility of the whole space, and reasonable circulation is as important as considering design details. As for materials and texture, the designer is used to thinking about budgets. All the flooring materials come from the client’s friend Guohua’s brand ‘sense things’.

This project design has been tracked for over 2 years. Since the plan layout is quite special, most of the furniture needs to be custom made. The TV cabinet requires a huge log of 5.6m and Bob Chen Office spend half a month to find one. In order to make round white marble table, the designer communicated with the manufacturer for almost 3 months.

And the desk made of lacquer took more than 2 months to finish the lacquer surface layer by layer. The 4.6m long sofa was designed with the cabinet as one set. It takes into consideration of functions of water storage, socket storage, tea making and tea container storage.
