We will be in touch soon.
At London Design Festival 2015, Hansen and Sons will host a special exhibition honouring the Signature chair. Hansen and Sons’s three-storey showroom in Clerkenwell brings the company’s heritage of over 100 years of Danish craftsmanship to London. Since Carl Hansen founded his company in Odense, Denmark in 1908, Carl Hansen & Søn has built its reputation on outstanding craftsmanship and the highest quality furniture.
The new London showroom is located in a historic building in the Clerkenwell neighbourhood of London, an energetic, creative area full of architecture and design studios. This London showroom is located in a building that once belonged to James Johnstone, the proprietor of the Morning Herald and Evening Standard newspapers.
The ground level of the showroom is a gallery space with creative room sets. The first floor will feature design classics such as Hans J Wegner’s iconic Wishbone Chair, Ole Wanscher’s Colonial Chair and Frits Henningsen’s Heritage Chair, while the second level houses a range of furniture by Rud. Rasmussen, Denmark’s oldest cabinet-making workshop, featuring pieces as the Faaborg Chair by Kaare Klint, the Mogens Koch Bookcase System, and Poul Kjaerholms’ Professor Desk.
This will be the first time the illustrious 145-year-old Rud Rasmussen collection will be on view in the UK. Rud Rasmussen represents the same uncompromising quality craftsmanship that characterises Carl Hansen & Søn, with the two brands complementing one another as they tell the story of Danish design. The acclaimed Rud Rasmussen furniture maker became part of Carl Hansen & Søn in December 2011.
